2019 MALANDA DROUGHTMASTER SALE SUMMARY

A limited offering of Droughtmaster females were offered to a mixed market at the 14th annual FNQ DROUGHTMASTER FEMALE SALE at Malanda on the 19th of January 2019. The drizzling rain cleared long enough for the sale which was followed by the regular store cattle sale.

Registered Droughtmaster females averaged $1663 with a top price of $1900 for Lot 1 "WARRINA WENDY (P)", a seven year old PTIC matron by Wajatryn Defender,from the WARRINA STUD, Ravenshoe. She was snapped up by repeat buyers Brad & Cassie Faithfull of Minbun. The Faithfull family followed up from their 2018 sale purchases by selecting another 4 registered females to average $1700.

The top priced joined heifer was Lot 8 "KANBRAE JENNA (S)",by Glenlands Repco, from the KANBRAE STUD, East Palmerston selling to $1850 to Fred & Carmel Shephard of DINNER CREEK STUD. Soon after, the same stud selected another young KANBRAE heifer for $1500. The 14 month old Lot 13 "WARRINA CAITLYN (P)", by Yaralla Rigby, topped the unjoined heifers selling to the Faithfull family for $1700. All up, the reg unjoined Heifers averaged $1533 while the reg joined heifers averaged $1717. Topping the commercial section was Lot 14, a 4yr old Cow & Calf from the newly formed IONA STUD, Malanda, selling for $1600 to Keith Hastie of Townsville. Mr Hastie also selected another 2 x females to average $1593 for his purchases. Lot 16, a KANBRAE heifer sold to locals, Noel & Kerry Godfrey for $1500 while another Malanda local, Cam Barton purchased 2 x IONA heifers for $1250. Frank & Helen Rockley of DUNMORE, Atherton, sold a pen of 5 young unjoined commercial heifers for $800.

A small offering of young Droughtmaster steers from the Rockley family and from KEL-LEE STUD sold to $550 and averaged $515. A big thank you to all that supported the sale.
